Caroline’s Organics moves across town
By Sue Dickens, For Community Press, Campbellford
“It’s exciting to be downtown,” said Caroline Glenn, owner of Caroline’s
Organics and Floral Design, at the grand opening of her business Monday at its new location, 15 Front St. S. “We just outgrew our other place,” she explained. Poinsettias of all colours were on sale that day to “kick off the opening.”
“Lori Schuett of Innovative Interiors helped me create the design I was looking for in my shop,” Glenn said. “We have room for a zen garden out back, which will be open to customers during the summer months.”
Her store features fair trade fl owers that come from around the globe. “The companies I buy from are conscious of how they treat their workers,” Glenn said, “and there are no sprays or chemicals used on the flowers.”
As part of the grand opening Trent Hills’ community development offi cer Brenda Otto announced that the municipality’s downtown community improvement plan program, now in its third year, is providing funds to Glenn to help enhance the façade of the building she purchased. “The program is part of our revitalization strategy for the downtown,” Otto said.
A maximum of $5,000 is available under the commercial façade improvement grant program. The business owner has to match the funds dollar for dollar.
